Education stakeholders in Meru and Isiolo Counties have a reason to smile after the Kenya National Library Meru branch in partnership with the Americans Friends of Kenya donated 2,000 books worth Sh1.5 million to 15 different institutions in the region.
The officer in charge of Meru County library Richard Wanjohi said they received the donations courtesy of American friends of Kenya last year November before they started distributing them to the beneficiaries.
“We have been able to give the books to 15 institutions including schools, Children’s home, churches and community libraries. We received them from American friends of Kenya,” he said.
Speaking at the facility, the librarian said they have partnered with different institutions so that they can support the Meru community in terms of education.
Schools including Kieni Kiandege, Meru Junior, conquerors and St Pauls primary schools were among the beneficiaries.
Street children from Isiolo county and Ripples International also received some books among other institutions.
