The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Acting Commission Secretary, Dr Evaleen Mitei, MBS, led educators and learners in Sub-County and County Awards ceremonies and tree planting activities today at St. George’s Senior and Comprehensive Schools as part of preparations to celebrate this year’s World Teachers’ Day.
The activities brought together education leaders, teachers and learners to recognise the contribution of teachers while promoting environmental conservation and sustainability.
The activities were held as part of the build-up events for this year’s World Teachers’ Day, which provides an opportunity to celebrate teachers and acknowledge their contribution to education.
Dr Mitei was accompanied by several TSC officials and education stakeholders during the activities. Those present included TSC Regional Director, Nairobi, Regina Opondo; TSC Director of Administrative Services, Ibrahim Mumin; and Director of Operations, Gabriel Mathenge.

Also in attendance was Acting Director of Staffing, Dr Samuel Marigat, together with St. George’s Senior School Principal, Ms Assumpta Mwangi, and St. George’s Comprehensive School Principal, Ms Anne Katee. Officials from the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA), Kenya Primary School Heads Association (KEPSHA), Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) and Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) also participated in the activities.
The awards ceremonies provided an opportunity to recognise educators and learners as part of the preparations for World Teachers’ Day to be held on October 5. The tree planting activity also highlighted the importance of environmental sustainability, with educators and learners taking part in an initiative aimed at nurturing the environment alongside education.

The activities brought together key education stakeholders and learners as the TSC continues its preparations to mark this year’s World Teachers’ Day and celebrate teachers for their role in shaping learners and the education sector.
