Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has joined the academic community in mourning the death of University of Eldoret Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Planning, Research and Extension, Prof Philip Raburu.
Governor Bii described the late don as an accomplished academic and administrator who played an important role in strengthening higher education through research, innovation and institutional leadership.
In a condolence message, Bii said Prof Raburu’s contribution to the university and the wider education sector would be remembered by colleagues, students and other stakeholders who interacted with him during his career.
The governor said the professor dedicated his professional life to advancing education and research, noting that his expertise and leadership had contributed to the development of the university and the country.

“Prof Philip Raburu was a distinguished scholar, administrator and dedicated servant of our nation,” Bii said.
He said Prof Raburu’s death was a loss to his family, the University of Eldoret and the wider academic fraternity.
Bii extended his condolences to the bereaved family, colleagues and the entire University of Eldoret community, urging them to remain strong as they mourn the scholar.
He prayed that God would grant the family strength and comfort as they come to terms with the loss.
Prof Raburu served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor responsible for Planning, Research and Extension at the University of Eldoret, where he was involved in academic administration, research and institutional development.

His death has prompted messages of condolence from leaders and members of the university community who have recognised his contribution to higher education.
