Four high school boys have been arraigned in court and charged with the alleged gang defilement of a 17-year-old girl in Rangwe Sub-County, Homa Bay County, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has confirmed.
The minors were charged with gang defilement contrary to Section 10 of the Sexual Offences Act No. 3 of 2006. According to the prosecution, the alleged offence occurred on July 30, 2026, when the accused are said to have jointly and in turns unlawfully defiled the victim.
The four appeared before Chief Magistrate Mary Immaculate Gwaro, where they denied the charge. Following their plea, the court ordered that they be remanded at the Homa Bay Child Protection Unit pending the hearing of the case.
Prosecution Counsel Jacinta Moenga is leading the case for the State and is expected to present evidence when the matter comes up for hearing on August 22, 2026.

The proceedings will be conducted in accordance with the Sexual Offences Act and Kenya’s child justice framework, with the identities of both the complainant and the accused remaining protected because the suspects are minors.
The trial will determine the culpability of the accused based on the evidence presented before the court. Under Kenyan law, the four remain presumed innocent until proven guilty.
