Bokoli Boys secure regional volleyball berth after Cheptais disqualification

Bokoli Boys Senior School will represent Bungoma County at the Regional Secondary Schools Volleyball Championships after Cheptais Boys High School was disqualified following a successful appeal.

The ruling by the relevant secondary school sports authorities overturned the initial county volleyball results, earning Bokoli Boys a place at the regional championships scheduled to begin on July 8.

In addition to the disqualification, Cheptais Boys has reportedly been suspended from participating in volleyball competitions for a specified period.

However, tournament officials have not publicly disclosed the duration of the suspension or the specific reasons behind the disciplinary action.

Following the ruling, Bokoli Boys will join Chesamisi Boys High School as Bungoma County’s two representatives in the boys’ volleyball category at the regional championships.

Focus shifts to regional competition

The decision comes just days before the regional tournament, prompting both Bokoli Boys and Chesamisi Boys to intensify preparations as they seek qualification for the national championships.

Sports officials said the ruling underscores the importance of complying with competition regulations to safeguard fairness, integrity and credibility in school sports.

Attention now shifts to the regional championships, where Bokoli Boys will be looking to make the most of their late qualification, while Chesamisi Boys aim to build on their strong county campaign against some of the region’s leading volleyball teams.
