- Newly transferred principal George Makaa has dismissed social media claims that he was abducted from St. Peter’s Nyakemincha Secondary School.
- Makaa has clarified that he was picked up by known church and school board officials for a consultation meeting at Kebirigo Catholic Church.
- The principal has appealed for parental and stakeholder support as he settles into his new role.
The newly transferred Principal of St. Peter’s Nyakemincha Secondary School, Mr. George Makaa, has downplayed information circulating on social media claiming he was recently abducted from the school to an unknown location.
“I was not abducted from school as alleged on social media platforms. I was picked up from school by respectable people I know for an official consultation outside the school,” he said.
Speaking to Education News, the Principal narrated how he reported to the school on August 21 this year, with the handover conducted harmoniously. He reopened the school with his staff and students on August 24. It was on the following Monday, while he was holding a staff meeting with his teachers, that three known visitors came to his office requiring his attention. He delegated his Deputy to continue with the staff meeting as he went to attend to the visitors.
The visitors comprised a priest from Mosocho Catholic Church, another priest who is Chairman of St. Peter’s Nyakemincha Secondary School Board, and the Secretary of the school’s Education Board, Mr. Mabeya. He said they took him to Kebirigo Catholic Church, where they held a scheduled meeting successfully until 4:00 pm, when he returned to school, only to find information circulating that he had been abducted. “I had forgotten my mobile phone at school when I left with the priests, and I think this might have caused suspicion among my staff,” he said.

The Principal, who was transferred from Embonga Secondary School in Kitutu Chache North Constituency to head Nyakemincha Senior School, defended his past administration and academic record and promised to steer his new school to greater academic success.
St. Peter’s Nyakemincha Secondary School has continued to post good results in the KCSE examinations. The school’s alumni, who spoke to this reporter, cautioned anyone harbouring malicious thoughts about the school to shelve them, saying they would not sit back and watch trivial issues trickle into the prestigious institution and mar its long-built history of success.

Makaa appealed to all parents and other education stakeholders to support the school with goodwill and prayers to enable sustainable and visionary leadership of the institution.
