Maseno School is preparing for a landmark celebration as the institution marks 120 years since its establishment, with President William Ruto expected to attend the event as the chief guest on May 9, 2026.
The celebration is expected to attract education stakeholders, alumni, government officials, teachers, parents and students from across the country in recognition of the school’s long-standing contribution to Kenya’s education sector.
Confirming the development to Education News, Maseno School Chief Principal Peter Owino said preparations for the anniversary celebrations were complete and that the institution was ready to host the high-profile national event.
Owino described the anniversary as a major milestone in the history of the school, noting that the institution has remained a symbol of academic excellence, discipline and leadership development for more than a century.
“This celebration is an opportunity to reflect on the school’s rich history and achievements in shaping leaders and professionals who continue to serve the country in different capacities,” said Owino
Established in 1905, Maseno School has grown into one of Kenya’s most respected national schools, consistently posting impressive academic performance and producing influential alumni in various sectors including education, politics, law, medicine and business.

The President attendance highlights the importance of strengthening and celebrating institutions that have contributed significantly to the growth of education in Kenya.
During the celebrations, the school is expected to showcase its academic achievements, historical milestones and co-curricular successes through exhibitions, cultural performances and student presentations.
Distinguished alumni are also expected to be recognised for their contribution to society and support towards the growth of the institution.
