A 47-year- old woman in Migori who was arrested over the weekend for allegedly defiling a Standard Eight pupil was yesterday arraigned before Migori Law Courts.
Following the residents’ complain, Farida Otieno was arrested on 30th August after being found with the boy in her home in Nyamaraga, Suna West.
Confirming the incident, the area Assistant Chief Mr. Evans Nyarube said after getting the reports, he called the boy’s parents who affirmed that the two have been having an illicit love affair even after stern warning from the boy’s parents, things remained the same hence calling for the arrest.
However, further reports revealed that the accused had hinted on marrying the teenager.
The accused, however, denied the two counts she is facing for touching a minor inappropriately and sexually molesting an underage before Migori Residents’ Magistrate Dancun Onyango and she was released on a Sh100, 000 cash bail.
The case will be mentioned on 6th September 2020.
However it is worth noting that a person who commits an offence of defiling a child between 12 to 15 years is liable upon conviction to imprisonment for a term not less than 20 years in prison.
