We’re mopping up all KCPE candidates to join Form 1, Homa Bay CDE says

Homa Bay County Director of Education Ziada Osano.

Homa Bay County Director of Education (CDE) Ziada Osano has revealed that her office has begun a crackdown to find 2023 KCPE candidates who have not yet joined secondary school over lack of school fees.

While speaking to parents who had visited her office, Osano said that her office was working with Chiefs, their Assistants and other community service providers to pile up all affected pupils and forward them to the Ministry for further action.

She reiterated the government’s efforts to provide equitable and sustainable education to all children through the 100 percent transition policy to secondary school.

Further, the CDE stated that in line with the directive from Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, learners who did not sit for their KCPE examinations will join schools of their choice using the marks of their last Standard 8 examinations.

Osano noted that 25 such students had already enrolled in various secondary schools across the county.

She said that the learners were among the 9,354 whom Machogu reported did not sit for the examinations last year.
