Nyanza Regional Director of Education Nelson Sifuna.

The Ministry of Education has raised concerns over the large number of 2023 KCPE candidates who are yet to report to Form 1 in Nyanza region.

Nyanza Regional Director of Education (RDE) Nelson Sifuna noted that 20,793 of candidates expected to transition to secondary school had not yet reported.

Sifuna stated that only 202,333 out of the 223,126 candidates had reported to various schools as of January 31, 2024.

“Only 202,333 students have reported to their respective schools in the region so far, accounting for 92 percent enrollment in the region,” he said.

However, Sifuna noted the Ministry in partnership with stakeholders including local Chiefs and nyumba kumi officials has embarked on identifying students who have not reported and ensuring that they enroll and continue with their studies.

Form 1 students started reporting to secondary schools on January 15 countrywide.
