Victory for MP Oscar Sudi as court acquits him in certificate forgery case

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has been acquitted by court over charges of forging academic certificates.

Anti-corruption Court Magistrate Felix Kombo ruled that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) failed to prove allegations against the legislator.

The magistrate said nine counts brought against Sudi were not supported by any evidence that could enable the court make a decision.

He said that some of the evidence were not acquired in a legal way, part of the evidence was obtained by Ethics and EACC in a hotel which the magistrate said raised issues of credibility.

The MP was accused of forging diploma certificate in Business Management that he had indicated it was from Kenya Institute of Management.

He had also been accused of providing false information to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in connection with his education level in order to be cleared to vie for MP.
