Police in Kitengela are investigating an incident where a university student is said to have killed her two-year child on Monday.
The 27-year-old lady identified as Olivia Naseren who is a fourth-year commerce student at a local university stabbed the child Glory Njeri and dismembered her.
The incident was recorded on video by neighbors who were trying to rescue the child.
The neighbors had rushed to the woman’s house after they heard screams; they had suspected it was a criminal attack only to get the woman who had locked herself in the house naked attacking the child.
When they managed to break into the house the child had already breathed her last. The woman collapsed after the incident.
She had broken most of her house items before attacking the child.
The woman mutilated the child’s body before feeding on some of her body parts in an incident that left neighbors in shock.
Neighbors suspect the woman was suffering from a mental illness, she said she attacked her daughter because she has suffered a lot with her and has been rejected by the father of the child.
Kitengela DCI boss, Benson Mutia, said the woman will be interrogating to ascertain the motive of the killing after getting treatment and will later be arraigned in court.
The remaining parts of her child are at the Kitengela sub-county hospital mortuary.
The Monday incident happened two days after a similar incident occurred where a 22-year-old woman was killed by her lover at an eatery in a suspected love triangle within the same Kitengela town.
The killer was rescued by police from the public that had attempted to lynch him; he survived and was taken to hospital.
