Union on an offensive to recruit new members

The Kenya Union of Teachers (KNUT), West Pokot Branch, has started a rigorous campaign that will see the union recruit new members in the county.

The campaign is targeting new teachers posted in the field and old members who had exited KNUT recently.

Speaking during the induction of Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers at Nasokol Girls Secondary School on April 6, the West Pokot County KNUT Women Representative said that KNUT is rejuvenated and has its sole obligation to fight for the teacher’s rights.

“KNUT is always firm in delivering service and justice to its members” Pamela Kassait, the KNUT West Pokot County Branch Women Representative said. She was accompanied by the branch Vice Treasure Veronica Lopeyotum who said that the exercise targets all teachers in the county.

Martin Sembelo, the West Pokot KNUT Branch Executive Secretary confirms that the branch is targeting about 500 new teachers in the county to join KNUT.

During the Junior Secondary School teacher’s induction, the Teacher Service Commission (TSC) Director for West Pokot County asked teachers to uphold professionalism while performing their duties .The director was accompanied by the West Pokot TSC Sub-county Director Jane Nyakoe.
