“Today I have donated 56 each with a capacity of 5,000 liters to 56 school which are in dire need of water. This will help in the fight against coronavirus where students will be able to wash their hands before and after every activity,” the Uasin Gishu woman representative said.
She said that her aim is to ensure that children don’t lack water as a precaution to prevent them from contracting coronavirus.
She said most primary schools in the County have a shortage of water.
“We all know the plight of our pupils, most schools do not have water. Even as it is at the moment most children have to carry water to school and that is the reality of many schools,” said the MP .
Shollei called on school principals and Board of Management to continue following directives by the ministry of health to prevent students from being infected by coronavirus.
“I call upon school principals and BOM members to ensure that students wash their hands before and after every activity, observe 1.5 meters social distancing rule, put on facemasks to prevent further spread of the virus,” Sholei advised.
The women representatives also distributed bursary worth Sh 2 million to bright and needy students from the county.
She said the funds will help those students whose parents were badly hit by the effects of coronavirus.
