The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has deregistered seven teachers and removed their names from the Register of Teachers following the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings.
According to the Commission’s latest notice, the affected individuals ceased to be recognised as teachers under the Teachers Service Commission Act with effect from February 25, 2026.
The teachers whose names have been removed from the register are Christopher Mutinda Mwandiku (TSC No. 752098), Felix Ouma Oloo (716232), Chadwick Ojwang Wafula (572981), George Ochieng Adede (506152), David Mthawali Menza (544377), Gilbert Cheruiyot Kirui (981490) and Rodgers Javutumi Asaya (386360).
The Commission said the deregistration followed the conclusion of disciplinary cases handled under various case numbers during the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 periods.
In the notice, TSC drew the attention of the affected individuals and the public to Sections 30(4) and (5) and Section 23(2) of the Teachers Service Commission Act.
Under the law, a teacher whose name has been removed from the register cannot be reinstated unless the Commission expressly directs otherwise.
The law further provides that once a teacher’s name is removed from the register, the individual ceases to be a teacher for purposes of the Act from the date of removal.
Deregistered teachers barred from teaching
TSC reiterated that no person is permitted to engage in the teaching service unless they are duly registered as a teacher under the Teachers Service Commission Act.
The provision means that individuals whose names have been removed from the Register of Teachers cannot continue practising as teachers unless the Commission subsequently approves their reinstatement in accordance with the law.
The Register of Teachers is maintained by TSC as part of its constitutional and statutory mandate to regulate the teaching profession.
The Commission is mandated to register trained teachers and exercise disciplinary control over those in the teaching service, among other functions.
TSC periodically publishes notices containing the names of teachers removed from the register following disciplinary processes.

The measures form part of the Commission’s efforts to enforce professional standards, accountability and integrity within the teaching profession.
