Thrills and showdowns expected as National schools soccer competition sparks off day two in Kakamega

Agai team arrives in style at Kakamega School on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, ready to face Garissa in a high-stakes clash.

The heat of the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) soccer championships intensifies today, Wednesday, July 20, 2025, as top boys’ and girls’ teams take to the Kakamega pitches for Day two action.

Eight fixtures will take place, each promising brilliant, gritty and dramatic football moments that could shape the destiny of this year’s contest.

Four exciting fixtures will take place simultaneously across the Kakamega 4 pitches, as newcomers and powerhouses alike battle for important points.

Mwanambeyu will play Madira Girls in what is expected to be a fierce encounter of speed and skill. Kobala Girls square up against Dagoretti Mixed, a team known for its tactical discipline.

Ruiru Girls take on Dr. Charles, both sides eager to stamp their authority early in the tournament. Butere Girls, playing on home soil, clash with Nasokol, who are determined to silence the crowd with an upset.

At the Kakamega School Grounds, both the morning and afternoon sessions are stacked with heavyweight encounters.

At 10am, Kirangari play the unpredictable Highway Secondary, a fixture guaranteed to deliver fireworks, while Serani Boys from Coast face off against JOBO, both sides hungry for  win.

The afternoon session kicks off at 2pm with Garissa High School locking horns with crowd-favourite Musingu.

A fixture sure to test endurance and strategy in the afternoon heat, Moi Mbiruri of Eastern will face Agai from Nyanza.

With Day one setting the tempo, today’s encounters are expected to separate contenders from pretenders.

Coaches are under pressure to rotate squads wisely, and fans should expect moments of magic, heartbreak, and glory.
