Thieves break into school injure watchmen, make away with computers, foodstuff

Two watchmen guarding Kyamulendu high school were on Monday morning rushed to Kangundo level four hospital after being attacked by a gang while on duty.

The 3. am incident was confirmed by Matungulu Sub-county police Commander Peter Omondi who said the two were hit with blunt objects on the head and tied in one of the classrooms.

The thieves who were armed with crude weapons proceeded to break into the principal’s office and the store and made away with various items among them computers, CCTV cameras, and food.

The police boss said the two-night guards were rescued and rushed to hospital.

They are now in stable condition.

“Today at about 3 am we received information that thugs had broken into Kyamulendu School.

When our officers arrived they found the two night guards injured and took them to hospital.” He said

Tala location Chief Francis Mulinge who visited the scene said that investigations into the incident have begun.

“We have a list of criminals who were released from prison and we are profiling them one by one, soon we will narrow down to whoever did this and bring them to book, “said the chief.

He warned residents against buying second-hand items or food that may have been stolen from the school.

He also urged day schools to ensure security in their premises by employing enough guards and adopting a secure lock system.

This incident comes just three months after robbers broke into the same school made away with the transformer and killed the watchman.
