Student dies soon after arriving home for half term break

The police in Masaba North Sub County of Nyamira have started investigations to find the cause of death of a school boy who according to the relatives, lost his life soon after getting home yesterday for the half term break.

The family alleged that the boy might have died due to electrocution.

“He had been rained on while coming hone and as he was drying his cloths, he was electrocuted,” his mother said.

They rushed him to Keroka Sub County Hospital where he was pronounced death shortly after arrival.

The police identified the body as Samuel Rioba, a 17-year old from Irianyi Village.

Untill his death the deceased was a student at Nyakongo Boys’ High School.

The body was retained at Keroka Mortuary Hospital for postmortem and further investigation.

After learning about the sudden death, the principal of Nyakongo High School mourned his student as one of the brilliant boys in Form Two class.

“We have lost an intelligent, obedient and promising learner,” he said.

The Principal wished the bereaved family God’s grace during this sad moment.

The death comes barely a week after two school boys escaped death narrowly as they played soccer at Rioma playing ground.
