St. Luke’s Kimilili Boy’s High school has been closed indefinitely following student riots.
This came a day after Friends School Chesamisi Boys was closed after students went on the rampage and destroyed property worth millions of shillings.
In a press release, the principal Innocent Siro condemned the incident and disclosed that 16 students were missing.
”We have 2,075 students present. Sixteen are absent, five are sick while one is yet to report,” he said.
Kimilili OCPD Stephen Muoni warned students against illegal conduct including riots and drug abuse.
Muoni said the riots at Kimilili Boys were triggered by a student resisting punishment after he was caught by the deputy school captain smoking bhang.
Friends School Chesamisi Boys Principal Christopher Serem said signs of unrest began in January last year when students complained of lack of entertainment.
A computer lab and two vehicles, one of which belonged to the school principal, were destroyed during the Saturday night disturbances.
