Panic and sorrow have enveloped the Sameta boys in Kisii County and the football fraternity following the demise of their soccer coach shortly after his school participated in the Kisii County KSSSA soccer championship.
According to sources from the school, teacher Kennedy Ogendo collapsed on the school compounds as he celebrated together with his colleagues and students.
“I was on the compound as all of us celebrated, and within a short time, I saw that he collapsed among the crowd,” said one teacher.

“We tried to give him first aid and called for a vehicle and rushed him to Lenmeki hospital, where he was pronounced dead,” he said.
Attempts to reach Principal Daniel Mirumbe via his mobile phone were unsuccessful, as his calls went unanswered.
Sameta boys were celebrating after winning a hotly contested soccer competition against their rival, Ong’icga Secondary School from Kisii Central Subcounty, 1-0.
“Fate did not allow him to enter his house in the school compound after the win,” said one of the closed teachers at Sameta Boys High School.
