Shock as man arrested for defiling 12-year-old disabled girl in Kisii

A middle aged man in Kisii County has been arrested for allegedly defiling a school girl, aged 12.

According to the residents of Nyansakia Sub location of Moticho Ward in Etago Sub-county, the incident happened on Wednesday July 3 when her parents left her at home as they attended chores on their farm.

On returning, they found the Grade 4 living with disability missing from the compound.

After a frantic search, they caught the man red handed in his house with the minor and raised alarm to attract more villagers who threatened to lynch the suspect.

Area Assistant Chief Alfred Otieno intervened and asked the irate villagers not to take the law into their hands but report the matter to the police for action.

The suspect was taken to Etago police station to record the statement.

The abused girl was taken to Etago Sub-county hospital where they found that she had been defiled and was treated and allowed to go home.

Reports indicate that the man has the habit of luring young girls with sweets, handkerchiefs and inner wears and taking them to his house to prey on them sexually.

“He is a notorious man destroying innocent daughters. We ask the police to isolate him from the community forever,” said the mother of the defiled girl, Pauline Nyamoita.

Etago police station officer David Omuko confirmed the arrest saying that the suspect will be taken to court soon after the comprehensive investigations had been carried out.

“We will arraign him in the court to be charged for his alleged crime,” he said.

Residents who talked to Education News reported of many defilement cases that occur in the area but are left unsolved because parents of the abused are compromised the law breakers who buy their freedom by paying parents money to silence them at the expense of the suffering victims.

They appealed to the children’s office and human rights organizations to intervene for justice of the molested minors to prevail.

When Education News team visited the home of the abused child in the company of clan elder they found the coy looking girl had coiled herself in a guava tree shed as she answered questions with low voice and sometimes nodded the head for either no or yes answer.

He mother said that she complained of pains on the back and the thighs.

“We are treating her with ointments on the bruised parts as we were instructed by doctors,” she said.

She appealed to well-wishers to assist her with money to take her daughter to hospital for medical attention.
