Shinyalu MP Fred Lusuli Ikana has donated a set of uniforms to needy learners of St. Mary’s Shibuye Girls Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) centre.

Ikana said the donation was aimed at ensuring that the kids get dignified lives which would subsequently boost their academic performance.

“This move is to make sure that our children feel loved and appreciated,” he said.

He added that the move was part of his initiative to ensure all needy learners in the constituency have neat uniforms and sandals.

The MP is so focused on improving the education sector that in 2018, he started an initiative of paying school fees for needy students with his salary.

The school’s Deputy Head teacher Omari Ashiono and the teacher in-charge of the ECDE department Modester Khabukwi applauded Ikana for his generosity.

They also asked him to help turnaround the face of the school, which is one of the best-performing institutions in Shinyalu sub county and the entire Kakamega County.

They particularly cited dilapidated latrines, roofs and floors of classrooms, hostels and staff-room and a feeding program for the pupils.
