- The President has revealed that the government is constructing 23,000 similar classroom facilities nationally as part of efforts to expand access to quality learning infrastructure.
President William Ruto has announced plans to construct 70 new classrooms for two schools in Nkaimurunya Ward, Kajiado North Constituency, citing the growing student population and the need for additional learning facilities.
The classrooms will be distributed between Ongata Rongai Primary School, which requires about 40 classrooms, and Nakeel High School, which has been allocated 30 classrooms. These are among the most congested schools in the area.
President Ruto said the government would undertake the construction as part of efforts to address the shortage of learning facilities in areas experiencing rapid population growth.
He noted that the classrooms would be constructed as the government constructs affordable housing developments in the area.
The President announced during his visit to Kajiado North, where he launched and inspected several development projects, including the Nkaimurunya Ward Modern Market, the Rongai Modern Market and the construction of several roads.

The President’s visit also highlighted the government’s investment in education infrastructure in other parts of Kajiado County.
Schools in remote areas, including Nkuruman in Kajiado West along the Kenya-Tanzania border, are among those set to benefit from classroom construction.
The president also pledged KSh20 million for classroom expansion at four schools in Ngong.
The projects are part of a wider national government programme to expand learning infrastructure across the country.
“Across the country, the government is constructing 23,000 similar facilities as part of our commitment to expanding access to quality learning infrastructure and ensuring that every child has an enabling environment to pursue their education,” the President said.

The classroom projects are expected to ease congestion in schools, improve the learning environment and accommodate the increasing number of pupils and students.
