- The polytechnic said the recognition could open doors to partnerships with organisations in agriculture, services, manufacturing and industry, as well as sponsorship for trainees from multinational companies.
- The institution has also said it hopes to arrange industrial attachment, dual training and exchange programmes with reputable international firms.
The Siaya National Polytechnic (TSNP) has won an international award for outstanding performance in Kenya’s technical and vocational training sector.
The institution received the Education Leadership and Institution Excellence Award from the Africa Middle East and Asia Chamber of Commerce (AAMECC). The honour recognises its performance in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), a sector that prepares young people for skilled jobs.
Beyond the award, the polytechnic says the forum where it was recognised offers tangible benefits for the institution and its trainees, with its leaders describing the event as a gateway to partnerships that extend well beyond the classroom.
The forum is expected to open opportunities for collaboration with organisations in agriculture, services, manufacturing and industry. Such links are important in TVET, where courses succeed only when they match what employers need.
The polytechnic also expects to secure sponsorship for its trainees through multinational companies and global partners, support that could ease the cost of training for students.

A third anticipated benefit is closer cooperation with industry on industrial attachment and dual training. Industrial attachment places trainees in workplaces so they can practise what they learn, while dual training splits a trainee’s time between college and a company. The polytechnic says it wants to arrange both with reputable international firms.
The institution also anticipates exchange programmes with respected firms, which could give trainees and staff exposure to methods and technology used beyond Kenya.
