President Ruto has revealed that his government is in the process of hiring 1, 300 Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) tutors.

He said this yesterday at Kisii National Polytechnic while on his first day of tour of Gusii region. The Head of State assured that part of the newly hired tutors will work at the institution as he acknowledged the inadequate human resource capacity experienced in TVETs.

“Most of you teachers are paid by the college. I would like to announce that we are hiring 1, 300 TVET teachers and we will ensure that 50 of them will come to teach in this institution,” Ruto said.

At the same time, he promoted his Digital Superhighway agenda and the purchase and distribution of modern technologies in all TVET institutions, saying he believes that the agenda will ensure that many Kenyan youths are employed in various sectors.

“We will convert our TVET institutions into digital academic organisations and Kisii National Polytechnic is going to be one of them.

“In phase one, we will distribute computers in 100 TVET institutions and ensure that every academic organisation has a digital laboratory,” he concluded.
