Rarieda MP Dr. Otiende Amolo’s wife Mrs. Linet Otiende has asked the Government to return the free sanitary pads programme for schools to the Ministry of Education.
Mrs. Otiende who hailed the Government for introducing the programme stated it should be removed from the Ministry of Gender where it is currently. Education is the one that can handle it better given that the programme was established based on the amended Basic Education Act 2017. She spoke when she marked the Day of the Menstrual Hygiene 2018 by visiting and distributing washable sanitary towels and menstrual cups to over 400 students in five secondary schools within Rarieda constituency through her programme dubbed ‘Rarieda Girl Power Initiative.’
