Over 7,500 primary and junior secondary schools are yet to receive capitation for lack of records Education News can now report.
According to the list seen by Education News, 4,766 primary schools and 2,827 junior schools, alongside an unknown number of secondary schools, are yet to be authenticated by Sub-County Directors of Education — the step required before funds are disbursed.
The delay has left thousands of learners stranded in underfunded institutions where even basic operations have stalled.
This comes amid intensive verification process announced by the Ministry of Education to weed out ghost schools and learners to curb capitation loss and enhance accountability.
