- Gideon Kimathi has lauded President William Ruto’s efforts to empower young people through education and economic opportunities.
- He cited Affordable Housing, TVET training, overseas jobs and agriculture among initiatives creating opportunities for the youth.
- Kimathi also urged administrators to sensitise young people about available programmes and encourage them to enrol in TVET institutions.
The Head of Protocol in the Office of the Deputy President, Gideon Kimathi, has lauded President William Ruto for his deliberate and unprecedented effort to empower the youth academically and economically in a bid to improve their welfare.
Kimathi said since independence, no other Head of State has been as knowledgeable about the welfare or status of the youth as President Ruto and urged all Kenyans to support such noble initiatives.
Speaking at Meru National Technical Training Institute during a sensitisation forum for NGAO, Kimathi said President Ruto has transformed the country into a construction industry by initiating projects directly beneficial to the youth, such as Affordable Housing.
“The country is being transformed into a construction industry through projects beneficial to the youth like Affordable Housing, learning institutions and roads, among others. I thank President William Ruto for his deliberate and unprecedented effort to empower the youth academically and economically in order to improve their welfare and social standing in society. I wonder where the leaders opposed to Affordable Housing want us to take the youth once the project is cancelled,” said Kimathi.
Government programmes
He assured Kenyans that the government will continue to give priority to the security and education sectors due to the vital role they play in the growth of the country.
The Head of Protocol also hailed the Kenya Kwanza government for employing more than 100,000 teachers since taking over the leadership mantle, noting that plans are underway to employ more in the near future.
“Due to lack of knowledge, some start claiming the education sector is collapsing. Plans are underway to ensure more teachers are employed in the country. This is why I urge you to continue supporting President Ruto and his Deputy Kithure Kindiki’s re-election bid in order to continue enjoying the national cake,” said the Head of Protocol in the DP’s office.
He urged the youth to embrace the Kazi Majuu programme by registering in order to benefit from the initiative.
Kimathi challenged chiefs and their assistants to ensure they sensitise the youth about the Kazi Majuu programme in order to benefit from it.
Kimathi said President Ruto and DP Kindiki decided to assist all youth through opportunities, funding and creating jobs in housing, diaspora and agriculture, among others.
“Village managers, chiefs and their assistants will coordinate the job of registering the youth for the Kazi Majuu programme as promised in the Bottom-Up Economic Agenda,” said Kimathi.
Youth urged to embrace opportunities
He hailed the youth who became millionaires after embracing the Kazi Majuu programme by getting jobs abroad, noting that many of the latest millionaires were poor individuals three years ago, but they are now smiling all the way to the bank courtesy of the Kazi Majuu programme.
He promised to be their ambassador and called on other youth to embrace agriculture since it has also transformed many into millionaires.
Kimathi termed TVETs as a one-stop shop where total transformation in academic prowess and technical skills for job opportunities is attained.
He encouraged those still at home to ensure they enrol and attain such skills.

“Information is power. If you don’t have information, you are simply powerless. I challenge leaders and residents to ensure they know all the TVET institutions near them in order to enrol and study at an affordable cost,” said Kimathi.
