Kitui County commissioner John Ondego has called upon pregnant girls sitting for KCPE to stop panicking so as to avoid premature labour.
He said when the exams kicked off yesterday; five girls had to be examined in hospital beds. One had given birth as the others were still in labor by the time of going to press.
“Three girls were hospitalized in Tseikuru Sub County after developing labour pain. Out of the three, one from Wikithuki Primary gave birth and developed complications as the other two from Mwangea and Kyamalutu Primary remained in labour pains,” said Ondego.
Ondego said the girls will continue taking their exams in the hospital.
The commissioner called upon parents to talk to their children in order to alleviate cases of early pregnancies.
He however added that they are ready in case of anything during the exam period.
