Garissa KNUT Executive Secretary Abdirizak Hussein has called on those selected to mark of both KCPE and KCSE to be vigilant and take into consideration that the country in the midst of corona pandemic.
Citing the assessment administered in October 2020 to all candidates when schools reopened, he said, many students and teachers weren’t physically and physiologically prepared then after being away form schools for nearly one year.
Abdirizak , said north-eastern region has been starved of teachers for a while due to terrorism fears.
“Besides most areas have been experiencing drought forcing many students to migrate with their parents and livestock to farflung areas where virtual classes aren’t accessible. He said some teachers said broadcasts were haphazard and thus making the virtual lessons impossible.
‘”I hope the Ministry of Education and KNEC have taken all factors into consideration while setting and marking the exams,’’ he said. The ministry ought to increase marking centres to ensure Covid -19 ministry protocals are strictly observed.
