Otendo girls’ team hailed for clinching JSS Kisii County title, urged to fight for regional

Moticho Ward MCA Ronald Achira has rewarded Otendo Junior Secondary School, (JSS) Girls’ soccer team with playing uniforms after they successfully defended their title during the Kenya Junior Secondary Sports Association, (KJSSA) in Kisii County.

Speaking at the school when he paid them a courtesy call, the MCA promised to stand with them for any possible support as they proceeded to Regional competitions to be held in Siaya County.

“You have done our County proud and walk assured of our confidence in you as you carry the flag of our county.” He said.

Achira asked parents to assist teachers to identify different talents endowed with their children for early assistance for them to realize and develop them their careers.

Otendo Junior Secondary School from Etago Sub county, beat their rivals from Maagonga at 2- 0 during the term two KSSSA competitions held at Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School recently.

According to the official Nyanza Regional Junior Secondary Competitions programme seen by Education News, playing teams have been slated into pool A and B.

The hosting county Siaya has been programmed to play at pool A together with teams from Homa Bay and Kisii Counties while pool B, will consist of teams from Kisumu, Nyamira and Migori Counties.

According to Nyanza Regional Director of Education, Lawrence Karuntimi, all security and traveling logistics for the teams have been put in place.

He asked respective schools and team managers to liaise with the hosting County officials and his office for any early preparations to avoid unforeseen inconveniences.

The director asked players to exhibit high discipline during their stay in the sports and cautioned them that any misdemeanor from students will be dealt with within the established regulations.

He asked the immediate community to accord the visiting teams a friendly environment to enable them feel at home away from home.

Saying Siaya is a county of plenty, Karuntimi welcomed the incoming teams to enjoy the water of the lake and eat fish without paying much money
