Nyairanga Primary School in Nyamira County has received 30 iron sheets to repair a leaking classroom roof following a donation by Engineer Adams Mochenwa, an aspiring candidate for the Nyamira Senate seat in the 2027 General Election.
The donation is expected to improve the school’s learning environment by addressing a long-standing roofing problem that had exposed pupils to rain, cold weather, and frequent classroom disruptions.
Speaking on behalf of the school administration, Headteacher Jesicah Kwamboka said the leaking roof had posed a safety risk to learners and interfered with lessons whenever it rained.
She noted that the new roofing materials will provide pupils with a safer and more conducive learning environment, allowing them to concentrate on their studies without the distraction of rainwater or cold winds.
Kwamboka added that the repaired classrooms will also support a more child-friendly learning atmosphere, enabling learners to participate in guided indoor activities, group discussions, and reading sessions even during the rainy season.

Deputy Headteacher Lesline Mochama said the improved infrastructure will reduce illness associated with exposure to cold and minimize class interruptions.
She observed that a secure learning environment is essential for effective play-based learning, particularly for children in the Early Years Education programme.
In a speech read on his behalf by Andrew Onsase, an official from his office, Mochenwa said the donation was made through the Adams Mochenwa Foundation as part of its ongoing efforts to improve education standards in the county.
He said the foundation has so far supported more than 70 schools with books and other learning materials, while over 30 schools have received construction materials, including iron sheets and classroom furniture, to improve learning conditions.

Mochenwa said that if elected as Nyamira Senator in 2027, he would advocate for prudent use of public resources to strengthen the education sector and improve learning infrastructure across the county.
The school administration thanked Engineer Mochenwa for responding to the school’s needs and appealed to other well-wishers, development partners, and leaders to invest in basic school infrastructure to enhance learners’ safety and academic performance.
