Kenyatta University has hosted a senior delegation from the University of Iowa ahead of a high-level meeting bringing together the American institution and five Kenyan universities, as part of a new consortium focused on artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and research collaboration.
Kenyatta University Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Outreach, Prof. Caroline Thoruwa, hosted Prof. Russel Gunim, Associate Provost and Dean of International Programs at the University of Iowa, during a courtesy call ahead of the University of Iowa–Kenyan Universities Consortium Meeting.
The meeting, hosted by Kenyatta University, brings together the University of Iowa and five Kenyan universities to explore new areas of cooperation and strengthen existing academic and research networks. At the centre of the discussions are entrepreneurship education, artificial intelligence, innovation and comparative research.

The consortium is designed to deepen research collaboration, promote knowledge exchange and encourage innovation across the participating institutions. Kenyatta University’s hosting role places it at the centre of the talks, with Prof. Thoruwa’s portfolio in research, innovation and outreach positioned as the university’s strategic link to the partnership.
The initiative is expected to open avenues for joint research projects, academic exchanges and comparative studies between scholars in Kenya and the United States.
