Dear Sir/Madam,
I wish to register my thoughts with the Teachers Service Commission regarding teacher promotions.
There are teachers with master’s degrees and PhDs, coupled with many years of experience, yet when promotion opportunities arise, some are not considered.
I thank God for the new leadership under Dr Evaleen Mitei. Dr Mitei, you understand what it takes to attain a doctorate. I therefore appeal to you and the Commission to consider teachers with master’s degrees and PhDs during promotions. Recognising such qualifications would also motivate younger teachers to pursue further studies and professional development.
Can TSC also reflect on situations where a pupil whom a teacher taught from Standard One to Eight later returns as that teacher’s Quality Assurance and Standards Officer, while the experienced teacher remains without career progression?
I appeal to Dr Mitei and the Commission to review the promotion system and strengthen fairness, transparency and recognition of qualifications and experience.

I also propose that promotion interviews be conducted online to improve accessibility and efficiency.
