Member of Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers Education (KUPPET) in Nyamira county branch recently elected their new officials with only two former officials surviving an exercise which the members termed as cleaning the house.
Long serving branch Executive secretary Mr.Lewis Nyakweba and Chairman Mr.George Morara Makaa survived the wind of change while the rest of the other former officials were kicked out in an election which was hotly contested.
Nyakweba retained the position with 645 votes against his closest rival Joseph Sonye who got 616 votes.
Makaa also retained his seat after beating his main challenger Mr.Festus Segera who garnered 833 and 812 votes respectively.
Renson Mungei Mokya was elected the vice-chairman with majority of 1148 votes against his only competitor Mr.Ezekiel Menge who got 506 votes.
Stella Kwamboka Moturi was elected the branch treasurer after trouncing the long serving official Mr.Tom Onsongo be garnering 780 votes against Onsongo’s 755 votes in an exercise which was held at Nyamira boys high school and supervised by county labour officer Mr.Daniel Gekuhe.
Moturi will be deputized by Getrude Kerubo Arisi who won the position after polling 943 votes against her sole challenger Irene Nyangweso who got 711 votes.
Evans Matuga also toppled the incumbent organizing secretary Cyrus Serembe by getting 938 votes against Serembe’s 217 votes.
The seat of the gender secretary was won by Naom Nyangechi Ongaga with 783 votes against her two rivals Nacy Nyaboke and Lenah Asiago who got 495 and 261 votes respectively.
Jackson Kerabai won the secretary tertiary seat by getting a total of 668 votes while Nyaboga Nyagaka bagged 579 votes to emerge the second position.
Albert Asuta Kenyatta secretary secondary after getting 777 votes against Linet Boyani who recorded 605 votes.
George Ayieko was elected the assistant executive secretary with 873 votes against Phillemon Okindo who got 750 votes.
Kuppet national officials led by national treasurer secondary section Mr.Edward Obwoncha and national organizing secretary Mr.Paul Maingi attended the function which they termed as democratic .
