By Tsozungu Kombe

Mwatate National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) has spent Shs 2.6 million to construct two permanent modern secondary Adult Education classrooms in the constituency.

Taita Taveta county Director of Adult Education Ms. Christine Nzige said that many adult education learners in the county learn under unhealthy environments.

She further revealed that many adult learners do not attend their lessons regularly because of the poor environment they study in.

She asked all adult education stakeholders in the county to cooperate fully and ensure that they provide the essential learning facilities at the literacy centres.

“Your support will encourage adult learners to attend classes in large numbers. You’re duty bound to provide the necessary learning facilities to the literacy centres in the region,”Ms Nzige urged the adult education stakeholders.

Ms. Nzige urged parents to enroll their children who dropped out of school in the literacy centres so that they can continue their education.

“If you enroll class 8 and form 2 leavers, they will be able to sit for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of secondary Education ( KCSE ) exams respectively,” she pointed out.

She concluded by saying that the county’s rapid development needs educated people who will be charged with the responsibility of designing, planning and implementing community development projects.
