NG-CDF committee lauded for embracing fairness
NG-CDF committee of Bomachoge Borabu has been lauded for exhibiting nonpartisan approach during the disbursement of bursaries in the constituency.
Speaking at the Constituency office on Wednesday, area MP Obadiah Barango vowed to increase the education Bursary fund in every financial year in order to enable many needy students to access quality education.
“Before I speak anything let me thank my NG-DF team for the work well done,” he said.
He revealed that he had instructed the committee members to involve the chiefs and their assistants for the purpose of transparency and accountability in the scrutiny of the applications.
He said that the committee gave priority of the education bursary allocations to the total and partial orphan students from both University and middle level colleges.
He revealed that 8,500 students from tertiary institutions received a total of Shs48.3 million this year up from Shs40 million last year.
NG-CDF committee awarded orphaned and disabled students heavily
According to NG-CDF Secretary Mrs. Nyatwanga, each of the orphaned or disabled students received Shs10,000 while those from poor homes received between Shs 7,000 and 4,000 depending on the weight of the need shown on their application forms.
“We distributed the money according to the weight and evidence noted on the applications,” she said.
The MP said that his office also released the funds to secondary school students in form four and three.
He decried the high number of applicants and attributed it to the high cost of living in the country.
He assured parents that his office will endeavor to support education programmes and asked other stakeholders and well-wishers to chip in and help.
“Development in all sectors calls for collective responsibility, I appeal to all to come on board so that we can pull together,” he appealed.
The law maker said that through his Obadiah Barongo Foundation, he has assisted 78 students from poor homes to join secondary schools.
