Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Commissioner and former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion is set to be conferred with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Education Management and Leadership on Saturday, during Kenya Methodist University's (KeMU) 26th Graduation Ceremony.
The ceremony is taking place at the university's main campus in Meru, where graduands from various disciplines will be conferred with their degrees in the presence of academic staff and guests.
Mr Sossion previously served as a classroom teacher at Tenwek High School. He later became a nominated Member of Parliament and a prominent voice in national education policy.
He receives the degree after years of research in educational administration.
His career has moved from union leadership at KNUT to a regulatory role at the TSC, where he deals with matters of teaching standards, institutional governance and curriculum reforms.
Education stakeholders present at the ceremony are expected to follow the conferment closely.
