Police in Kwale have launched investigations into the sudden death of a Form Three student at Kwale High School who reportedly collapsed while playing football on Wednesday afternoon.
The student, identified as Victor Titi, allegedly collapsed while playing football with fellow students around lunchtime.
Kwale County Director of Education Ahmed Abdi said the student complained of dizziness before losing consciousness on the pitch.
“He was playing football with his friends when he suddenly sat down. It was reported that he was not feeling well, prompting others to move him away from the pitch,” Abdi said.
Student rushed to hospital
He said the student’s condition later deteriorated, prompting fellow students to alert the school nurse and members of the St John Ambulance club, who administered first aid before rushing him to Kwale Sub-County Hospital for treatment.
Abdi said Titi was received by doctors at the hospital, who made efforts to save his life for about two hours before he was pronounced dead.
He added that the student’s parents had been informed of his death.
