Students of Ole Tipis Girls High School in Narok Central have been urged to embrace responsible use of social media and avoid over-reliance on artificial intelligence (AI) in journalism.
This was during a mentorship programme organised by the Media Council of Kenya (MCK), led by Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Joseph Mecha.
Speaking at the school, Mecha said the Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum identifies and nurtures learners' talents early, adding that the introduction of media technology in high schools aims to build a strong foundation for future journalists.

Mecha warned the students that social media never forgets, saying content posted online can be retrieved even after 20 years and can either build or destroy one's reputation.
