Learning activities were disrupted at Kibabii University after students took to the streets to protest a deadly attack that left one student dead and three others injured.
The incident occurred last night near the institution when four students were reportedly attacked by unknown assailants. One of the students sustained a deep cut to the back of the neck and died at the scene.
The three other victims sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
The brutal attack sparked outrage among the student fraternity, who on Tuesday morning staged demonstrations demanding immediate action from the university administration and security agencies.
The agitated students blocked the busy Chwele-Kanduyi Road near Cardinal Otunga Girls High School, lit bonfires and paralysed transport, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes.
"We will not leave the streets until we get firm assurance on our security," one student said during the protests.
Police officers were deployed to contain the situation and restore order along the highway.
The incident has reignited concerns over student safety around Kibabii University, with students now calling for enhanced security patrols and street lighting in areas surrounding the institution.
Authorities have launched investigations to establish the identity and motive of the attackers.
