The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) has called for greater investment in basic education.

The church also emphasised the need to strengthen Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) to provide learners with a strong educational foundation.

Bishop Ernest Rotich said education remains a priority for the church, which has continued to invest in schools and other learning institutions across the country.

Speaking in Bomet, Rotich said ACK had established and equipped several institutions as part of its efforts to expand access to education and improve learning outcomes.

“We believe that every child deserves an opportunity to learn and develop their potential. That is why the church continues to invest in education and support initiatives that promote access to quality learning,” said Rotich.

Church highlights its contribution to education

He observed that education was central to community development and called on stakeholders to work together to address challenges affecting the sector.

The bishop said ACK schools were founded on biblical principles, which guide their approach to discipline, character development and academic performance.

He added that the church sponsors several schools whose learners have achieved commendable results, demonstrating its continued contribution to the education sector.

Rotich pledged that ACK would sustain its investment in education and continue exploring ways to ensure learners in different communities could access learning opportunities.

“The success of education reforms depends on the commitment of all stakeholders. We must work together and give education the attention and resources it deserves,” he said.
Bishop calls for stronger ECDE support

He stressed that strengthening ECDE was particularly important because early learning prepares children for subsequent stages of education.

Rotich urged the government, churches, parents and communities to work collectively to ensure that basic education receives the necessary support and attention.

The church also welcomed the ongoing reforms, urging stakeholders to support the changes and fulfil their responsibilities.
