Narok West Member of Parliament Gabriel Tongoyo has honoured the Sekenani School football team following the team’s impressive performance at the 2026 Kenya Junior Primary Schools Sports Association (KJPSSA) National Games, where they emerged as runners-up in the boys’ football competition.
The legislator hosted the players, coaches, teachers and school officials for a celebratory dinner in Nairobi, commending them for their resilience, discipline and determination throughout the tournament.
Speaking during the event, Tongoyo said Sekenani School had brought immense pride to Narok West Constituency and Narok County by reaching the national final and competing among the country’s best school football teams.
“I am incredibly proud of this remarkable team for flying the Narok West flag high on the national stage. Finishing second in the National Championship is a remarkable achievement that reflects your hard work, discipline and commitment,” said the MP.
He noted that the team’s success had demonstrated the abundance of sporting talent in Narok West and expressed confidence that their achievement would inspire many young people to pursue excellence both in academics and sports.
Tongoyo also praised the teachers, coaches and school administration for nurturing the learners’ talents and providing the guidance that enabled the team to excel at the highest level of school football.

He further acknowledged the support of parents, alumni, fans and members of the local community, saying their encouragement throughout the competition played a significant role in the team’s outstanding campaign.

Although Sekenani School narrowly missed lifting the national title, the team’s journey to the final earned them widespread admiration and established them among Kenya’s top-performing school football sides this year.
Tongoyo encouraged the players to remain focused, disciplined and determined, reminding them that finishing second at the national championships was a significant milestone and a foundation for even greater achievements in future competitions.
