- The Ministry of Education has partnered with Huawei to accelerate digital transformation in schools and expand access to modern learning technologies.
- CS Migos Ogamba has emphasised that the collaboration has supported classroom modernisation, ICT infrastructure improvement, and teacher training on digital tools.
- Huawei has committed to Kenya’s digital education agenda, and the government has launched the Digital Education Strategy 2026-2030 targeting full digital literacy for learners.
The Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding digital learning in schools through a new partnership with global technology leader Huawei.
Education Cabinet Secretary Hon. Migos Ogamba on Tuesday held a meeting with Huawei Global President for Education, Mr. Peter Zhang, who paid a courtesy call at the Ministry’s Jogoo House B offices in Nairobi.
Speaking after the meeting, CS Ogamba said Huawei remains a key partner of the Government in the journey towards accelerating digital transformation, especially in the education sector.
“The Government is embracing a comprehensive approach to expand digital learning to equip our youth with the skills required to thrive in a technology-driven world,” Ogamba stated. He added that the collaboration with the Tech giant is key in preparing Kenyan Youth for the digital economy.

The CS noted that the collaboration is part of broader government efforts to modernise classrooms, improve ICT infrastructure, and integrate digital competencies into the curriculum across primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.
According to the Ministry, the partnership with Huawei is expected to support teacher training on digital tools, expand connectivity in schools, and provide students with access to cloud platforms, smart classrooms and emerging technologies such as AI.
“Collaboration with global technology leaders such as Huawei is key to strengthening the education system and preparing the next generation of Kenyans for the digital economy,” Ogamba added.
On his part, Mr. Zhang reiterated Huawei’s commitment to supporting Kenya’s digital education agenda through technology transfer, capacity building, and innovation hubs aimed at nurturing local talent.

The meeting comes as the Government pushes to implement the Digital Education Strategy 2026-2030, which targets 100% digital literacy for learners and the integration of ICT in teaching and learning nationwide.
The partnership comes at a time when the ministry, in collaboration with the Kenya Digital Authority, is rolling out smart boards in learning institutions.
