Narok county government has flagged off the distribution of curriculum materials to Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres across the county in a move aimed at strengthening foundational learning among young learners.
The exercise was led by CECM for Education Johnstone Sipitiek and Chief Officer for Education Simon Kuraru, who reaffirmed the county’s commitment to improving the quality of early childhood education through adequate learning resources.
Speaking during the flag-off event, the county education officials said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the Department of Education to enhance learning standards in ECDE centres and support teachers with modern curriculum-based materials.
Through its partnership with Kenya Literature Bureau, the county government has facilitated the design and distribution of approximately 2,000 Pre-Primary Education Curriculum Teaching Aid books that will benefit more than 985 ECDE centres spread across the county.

The officials noted that the curriculum materials have been specifically designed to meet the needs of early learners under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), making teaching and learning more effective and engaging in classrooms.
“This programme will greatly support ECDE teachers by providing quality and learner-friendly teaching aids that will improve classroom delivery and learning outcomes among children,” said Sipitiek.
Chief Officer Kuraru emphasized the county’s dedication to investing in education, saying the distribution of the materials demonstrates the administration’s focus on building a strong educational foundation for children at an early age.
The event was also attended by Director of ECDE Lilian Loonkushu alongside various sub-county Coordinators from the Department of Education who will oversee the distribution exercise in their respective regions.
The county government reiterated that strengthening ECDE education remains a key priority in ensuring children access quality and inclusive education across all parts of the county.
