MoE will investigates who was responsible for the Butere Girls fiasco, PS assures

Principal Secretary for State Department for Basic education, Prof. Julius Bitok.

Principal Secretary of Education for Basic Education Amb. Prof Julius Bitok said the ministry will thoroughly review the processes leading to the controversial play Butere Girls.

Speaking at Lions School, which he visited after a day of dramatic scenes, Prof. Bitok said that investigations will be undertaken into the school’s management and education officials to determine who failed their duties before action is taken.

“For now, no action has been taken; the board of management of Butere Girls, as well as the administration, are still in place, but once we conclude, we will know what actions to take,” he said.

Prof. Bitok further said the ministry would review guidelines for school drama activities to ensure compliance with the regulations and bar non-teaching officials from preparing or directing items.
