MoE reveals criteria for financing co-curricular activities in Nyanza

Nyanza Region Director of Education Nelson Sifuna has released the criteria for financing co-curricular activities in the region.

In a memo to all County Directors in Nyanza region dated 29th August 2022, Sifuna indicated that to support the activities each Primary school will remit a total of Ksh10 per pupil where Ksh6 shall be used to run activities at the County level and Ksh4 at the Regional level.

For Secondary schools activities, a total of Ksh40 per student from Ministry of Education (MoE) funding shall be remitted where Ksh30 shall be used at the County level and Ksh10 at the Regional level.

The figures were arrived at after a meeting comprising all County Directors of Education, KESSHA and KEPSHA Regional Executives at St. Theresa’s Girls High School in Kibuye on 29th August 2022.

The MoE announced full commencement of Co-curricular activities in all schools and teachers training colleges after they were suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Secondary schools games will be held from 8th to 13th September 2022 in Nakuru County while primary school games will be held on the same dates in Machakos County.

Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association Championship will be held in Arusha from 13th to 23th September 2022.

SNE Secondary School Ball Games will be held from 8th to 13th September 2022 in Uasin Gishu County Hill Secondary School.

SNE Primary school Ball Games will be held at Uasin Gishu County Hill Secondary School from 8th September to 12th September 2022.

The Kenya Music Festival will be held from 16th to 23rd September, 2022 at Maseno University in Kisumu County.

Finally, the State concert will be on 24th September at State Lodge Kisumu.
