MoE reshuffles sub-county directors in sweeping changes

Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang'. The ministry has reshuffled widely its officers at the sub-county level in what is said to be to give them new challenges.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has made major changes to its Sub-County Directors of Education (SCDE) across the country, Education News can now report.

According to credible sources at Jogoo House, most of those moved to new stations had overstayed in their areas of jurisdictions hence the need to provide them with a new challenge.

Among those affected in the movements include Nyahururu SCDE Mburuku Samson, who now goes to Tetu in Nyeri County to replace Gitonga Ndeke. The latter on the other hand will leave Tetu for Laikipia Central.

Similarly, Mburuku will be replaced by James Murage from Limuru in Kiambu County while Joel Murage who was in charge of Laikipia Central will be reporting to Kinangop in neighbouring Nyandarua County.

In the same vein, Peter Ng’ang’a who was the Kinangop SCDE has been transferred to Khwisero in Kakamega County. Ng’ang’a will on the other hand be taking over from Genetrix Amatha who has now been posted to Bunyala in Busia County.

In Suba Sub-County in Homabay County, Cosmas Wanjala has been moved to Nambale also in Busia County while his predecessor, Sarah Osundwa proceeds to Bumula in bordering Bungoma County. The latter replaces Ezra Odondi Jonah, who retired recently.

In other changes, Gucha South SCDE, Emily Isiye, now shifts base to Cheptais in Bungoma County. She replaces Were Odunga Erick who has been moved to Karachuonyo North in Homabay County. Were has taken over from Vincent Onyango who has been sent to Gucha South to take over from Isiye.

At the same time, Juma Leo who has been in charge of Borabu in Nyamira County now goes to Navakholo in Kakamega County. He takes over from Joan Isigi who now moves to neighbouring Lugari Sub-county in the same county. Margaret Igwatai who has been heading Lugari now leaves for Nyakach in Kisumu County.

Similarly, Kenyenya SCDE, George Ouma goes to Borabu in Nyamira County to replace Leo. Ouma’s replacement has been named as Dr Grace Obuya who has been promoted from an education officer to a SCDE.

Also affected is Dorcas Simiyu of Luanda in Vihiga County who consequently proceeds to Trans-Nzoia East in Rift Valley. She replaces Thomas Mukabi who has been dispatched to one of the sub-counties in Baringo County. To take over from Simiyu is Charles Anyika who has been the Belgut SCDE in Kericho County in the Rift Valley.

Education News has learnt that more changes are on the way including the replacement of retiring regional and county directors. The MoE recently promoted all its field officers in a strategy to boost their morale.
