The Ministry of Education (MoE) has started a reshuffling exercise of its County Directors of Education (CDEs), affecting multiple counties across the country in an ongoing deployment drive.
Among the notable changes on the education field officers include, James James Ekalyo, formerly the Busia CDE, has been sent to Nairobi Regional Director’s (RDE) office for new reassignments. Ekalyo will be succeeded by Charles Nyakundi, who previously served as the Makueni CDE.
The Kakamega education boss, Hellen Nyang’au, has been transferred to the Rift Valley Regional Director’s office in Nakuru County for allocation of new duties. Meanwhile, Pius Ngoma, the embattled Bungoma education chief, has been deployed to the Eastern RDE’s office, where he will also be assigned fresh responsibilities.
In the changes, the Vihiga CDE, David Koech has also been affected and will now proceed to Uasin Gishu County in the same capacity. Koech replaces John Tiringi who now goes to Nyeri in similar portfolio. Tiringi takes over from Jane Njogu who has been recalled to Jogoo House to join the Teacher Management Unit.

Elsewhere, John Kimei, formerly the Butula Sub-County Director of Education (SDE), has been elevated to full director status and deployed to Elgeyo Marakwet County to replace Nancy Mutai who has been transferred to Nyandarua County as the CDE.
Mutai on the other hand will take over from Philip Wambua, who has now been transferred to Murang’a County as the new education boss. Wambua replaces Ann Kiilu, who has been promoted to the post of RDE and posted to Mombasa County, where she will now serve as the Coast Region education boss.
