Students of Maseno University early today took to the streets to demonstrate over the death of a fellow student who was fatally shot on the neck by the police officers during yesterday’s Azimio demonstrations.
Wiliam Mayange, a third year student succumbed to gun wounds at Coptic Hospital.
Mayange fell victim of the live bullets from the police after they ran out of teargas canisters during the tussle between the police and students who had joined protestors in blocking the Kisumu-Busia road.
The police say the students had vandalised at least 10 houses at Maseno Police Line after reportedly doing the same at Sairam Supermarket and many other businesses along Kisumu-Busia Highway.
Speaking to the press, Mayenga’s mother bitterly wept and questioned what mistake her firstborn son had done to be killed like a bandit.
